Complete FPGA-Based MIPI Video Demonstration System Now Available

January 24, 2014 — Meticom today announced the immediate availability of two new ICs, the MC20901 and the MC20902, that allow to connect MIPI compliant devices with either DSI or CSI-2 interface to standard FPGAs. The MC20901 is a 5 channel (4 data + 1 clock) high performance FPGA bridge IC, which converts MIPI D-PHY compliant input streams into LVDS high speed and CMOS low speed output data streams while the MC20902 converts incoming LVDS high speed and incoming CMOS low speed data streams into 5 channels (4 data + 1 clock) MIPI D-PHY compliant output streams. Both ICs support up to 2.5 Gbps per channel data rates in HS-mode and up to 20 Mbps in LPDT mode.
These ICs may also be used for converting between SLVS and LVDS levels.

DSI and Camera Serial Interface 2 (CSI-2) are becoming the industry standard for connecting to low cost embedded displays and cameras. These standards are developed and promoted by the MIPI Alliance ( MIPI designs are now beginning to use FPGAs. However, the current generation of FPGAs does not generally support MIPI from an I/O perspective.
